FACING IDENTITY THEFT TROUBLES IN LOGISTICS?

The increase in logistic companies has only proved to be a major success for the economy. Many such companies have been technologically enabled, however, it is very easy to disrupt this process and hoodwink the management.

Case 1: Since it is a logistics company, many drivers are involved to take the load of packages to different delivery centers. These packages are then taken by another set of drivers to reach their respective addresses. With the product being transferred from one hand to another, it is always possible for it to be received broken, damaged, or items missing.

Case 2: Due to so many daily wage workers involved, there’s a lot of room for identity fraud, robbery, miscommunication, and therefore, lots of money loss. So many times, drivers had fled away with the bulk of packages and remain untracked due to the lack of identity verification. It gets very difficult to manage such a large team that has dispersed from one place to different corners of the world. Sometimes, the packages are exchanged with drivers working for other companies, and therefore it is difficult for the management to talk to unknown drivers.

Case 3: Many times, in this huge transit, there’s a lot of time consumed and lots of travelling involved. In all this chaos, packages/products are lost. In the industry, it is very often that there is a loss of packages and that the delivery has to be managed by replacing the products, replacing the centers, exchanging the delivery orders to save time, etc.

Case 4: Since the orders are given online, it is very easy for customers to commit fraud, or play mischief with the order at the last moment. There are quite a few unacceptable customers who will cancel their orders, or put in a complaint without proper knowledge of the product. This leads to a frequent recollection of orders. There are some customers who try and hoodwink the delivery executive or the management/ online platform in order to get free stuff or at least a discount. Why? Because they can! This is called customer fraud.

In the bargain, the logistic companies suffer losses on a large scale. What can be done to fill in the gaps? Firstly, the logistics company needs to have a stronger tech game, where identity verification is done properly. This will help keep track of all their primary and secondary team employees. They should also compulsorily have a tracker for every delivery that ships off from the main office. Further, they need to take a full background check of the customers and inform them about the protocols, offers, and strict laws involving cancellation, the return of the products.

More importantly, it is vital that companies make it more convenient and streamline every process as much as possible for efficiency and productivity.
